A 2012 Winner of the Tuscany Prize for Catholic Fiction and author of Wild Spirit, Pita Okute, describes Beautiful Thief and Other Stories in the following words: “This collection of twelve emotive stories is the remarkable entrée of promising literary ability. Through it, Alex Abesadu Bitrus Byanyiko shows commendable proof of that candid eye for which the worthy writer is much treasured…irony trailing wit or laced with sarcasm, the stories are delivered in a peculiar blend of native idioms that make the collection worthy of artistic interest.”

Byanyiko is a multi-talented Nigerian and a prolific writer who contributes exciting columns for TheNiche.

He worked for six years with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) as a producer, and quit to pursue his passion for filmmaking. Among his films are The Wrong Number and Mr Rendel.

The Wrong Number, produced in 2013 is a story of a man who takes the wrong decision in solving his marital issues and, in the process, compounds it,

Byanyiko also occasionally does music, and one of his songs is ‘Getting High’, a rap track on the dangers of drugs.

He is also the director of a hit gospel song, ‘Oluwa Mi.’
