Al-Makura, Adamu disagree over choice of guber candidate

-

The strained relationship between Nasarawa State Governor, Tanko Al-Makura and Senator Abdullahi Adamu, who would fly the All Progressives Congress (ACP) governorship ticket in the state worsened at the weekend, as the two politicians allegedly exchanged words, investigation had revealed. New Telegraph findings revealed that the relationship between the two powerbrokers, which was hitherto smooth, turned sour as they no longer see eye-to-eye over the disagreement between them on whose preferred candidate would fly the APC ticket in the September APC governorship primaries. Checks revealed that while Al-Makura had settled for the General Manager of Dangote Sugar Company, Abdullahi Sule; Adamu was said to have preferred Ja’afar, a serving member in the House of Representatives representing Toto/Umaisha federal constituency at the National Assembly.

It was gathered that the estranged relationship between the governor and the senator took a dramatic turn when the former allegedly turned down an invitation extended to him by the later for further discussions on the matter and to decide on the direct or indirect APC governorship primaries and other sundry issues affecting the party in the state with few other stakeholders. It was gathered that the duo had exchanged words earlier in a meeting held in Abuja to examine the array of the party’s governorship aspirants and decide on the most credible that would fly the party’s ticket in the 2019 general election.

Adamu was said to have been holding talks with his loyalists and supporters, among them executives of the party, at his Keffi country home where he had to wait for hours before it dawn on him that Adamu was not going to attend the meeting. Demonstrating further his annoyance against the governor, Adamu also shunned representatives of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Nasarawa State Council, at his country home in Keffi, who had earlier approached him to serve as chief launcher for her book on Al-Makura entitled: “Governor Almakura Expanding The Frontiers of Democratic Governance in Nasarawa State,” to present him with copies of the book, but only tricked and abandoned them at his residence and zoomed off to Abuja.
