A Chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Evangelist Olumuyiwa Asagunla has declared total support for Ife Ehindero, an aspirant for the vacant House of Representatives seat in Akoko North East/Akoko North West Federal constituency and asked his supporters to strengthen the political base of the Honorable Minister of Interior, Hon Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

Asagunla, who is a former Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Ondo state and a Governing Council member of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Owo stated that this decision was made both out of choice and necessity — after an exhaustive mediation with well-meaning stakeholders, his supporters and the good people of his constituency.

He made this known at a declaration event organized by him on Sunday at Okeagbe Akoko, the headquarters of Akoko North West Local government area of Ondo state.

According to him, this idea comes in a bid to ensure that there is a joint effort with the leadership of the party in the state and also in the federal government to allow the people to enjoy the maximum dividends of democracy.

“I am aware of the need to strengthen the beautiful foundation laid by our former House of Representatives member and incumbent Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo. This can not happen if the party is divided on which direction to go.

“My goal is to ensure that policies that affect the growth and development of our people are more likely to be debated collectively before they are implemented.

“My ambition does not supersede the supremacy of the party or the will of my people and I will continue to forge solutions that serve the entire community. The people comes first.

“After several consultations with stakeholders in the Federal constituency and my supporters, we have jointly agreed to the consolidation agenda of Ife Ehindero.

“Hence, I urge my supporters to support and work for the victory of Ife Ehindero, and for the greater good of our Federal constituency.

“I also appeal to our people in Akoko North East local government to allow us complete the mandate they gave to us in Akoko North West local government since we also made the sacrifice to support them for the senate seat because of the smooth relationship between the two local governments.”

In his acceptance speech, Ife Ehindero described Asagunla as a bridge builder in Ondo state political space.

According to him, “My elder brother, Honourable Muyiwa Asagunla has made a big sacrifice to support this ambition to give our people quality representation. He is bridge builder in the political space of this state.

“I sincerely appreciate him and his many supporters for making this huge decision. Our people will not forget this sacrifice you all made. I promise not to disappoint you.” He concluded.

Top party leaders across the two local governments area in the constituency present at the event include, Hon Ayodele Akande; Pastor Seyi Kolawole; Hon. Akadri Atinuke; Alhaji Sanni Dona; Hon. Fafunmilade Adetilewa; Hon. Bankole Mohamed; High Chief Eleta, Oshoade, Baale Abraka Dauda, Otunba Oriky, Sayos mother, Alhaja balogun, party executives and community leaders among others.
