Akeredolu says late mother will be buried in Owo

Akeredolu also said the family took the decision because despite hailing from Igbotu in Ese-Odo LG of Ondo state, they consider her an Owo indigene

Ondo State governor, Arakuntin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has justified his decision to bury his late mother in his Owo hometown despite hailing from another town in the state.

The governor’s mother, Evangelist Grace Akeredolu died in her sleep on Thursday, September 15, at the age of 90.

According to a press statement made available by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Richard Olatunde, the Governor made the disclosure when he received a  delegation of the Olowo-in-Council, who paid him a condolence visit in Ibadan.

Chief Amos Aladesawe, lead the delegation which represented the Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye. 

Akeredolu, while addressing the visitors said his late mother was more of an Owo indigene despite hailing from Igbotu in Ese-Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Meanwhile, the governor, when reacting for the first time to the news of the death of his late mother, said she would be received and guarded by angels. 

Akeredolu made the comment on the popular microblogging platform, Facebook while mourning his mother and announcing that her burial arrangements will be made known by the family soon. 

The governor, who is in his second tenure, said his mother died in her sleep, eulogised her and described her as an adorable, dutiful and ever-dotting mother. 

He said: “My siblings and I announce, with deepest regret and total submission to the will of the Almighty, the passing into glory of our adorable, dutiful and ever dotting mother, Lady Evangelist Grace Bosede Akeredolu JP, this morning. She died peacefully in her sleep
