Social justice campaigner Aisha Yesufu has slammed Works Minister Dave Umahi for his arrogant reaction on Tuesday when questioned on Arise Television by anchor Rufai Oseni over the per kilometre cost of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, said to siphon a total $11 billion from the treasury.
Yesufu said Umahi thinks he is still in Ebonyi where he was a “local champion” when he governed the state between 2015 and 2023, after which Bola Tinubu appointed him into the federal cabinet two years ago.
When Rufai accused him of reporting him to the President for asking about the cost per kilometre of the project, Umahi flew off the handle, saying:
“Keep quiet and stop saying what you don’t know. I’m a professor in this field. You don’t understand anything.
“You are too small for me to report the President. Stop saying I reported you to the President, you’re too small.
“I understand engineering very well. You have no knowledge of what you ask. You have no knowledge of what you’re asking.”
Umahi did not answer the cost question Oseni asked.
In her reaction, Yesufu wrote on X:
“There is average cost. He didn’t have to give a specific figure.
“Since it is understandable that some kilometers may cost more than others but he could have given an approximate figure.
“Of course Dave Umahi still thinks he is in Ebonyi State where he was local champion.”
