Airfares in reality

Airfares shot up more than 100 per cent in February, caused by scarcity of jet fuel, high maintenance costs, non-availability of foreign exchange, Customs delay in clearing spare parts, and other problems – none of which has been solved.

Airlines that raised fares for a one-way economy flight from Lagos to and from Abuja, Port Harcourt, Kaduna, and Warri included:

  • Azman Air – N50,000
  • Max Air – N50,000
  • Ibom Air – N53,000
  • Arik Air – N50,250
  • Air Peace – N50,000
  • Dana Air – N50,000
  • United Nigeria – N50,750
