Agoye insists that Shooting Stars can overcome their current poor goal records and return to reckon.
Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan made their return to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) after over three seasons and seem to be struggling to convert chances especially from set pieces.
The Club has indeed been finding goal scoring a hard task with just three goals in four matches. Gafar Olafimihan, their top hit man in the Nigeria National League (NNL) campaign last season is yet to shake the net in the elite division.

Goals for the Oluyole Warriors have so far come off the boots of Ayo Adejubu, a 90th equalizer against the defending champions, Akwa United, Akilu Mohammed against Lobi Stars and Wasiu Alalade’s against Katsina United on MatchDay 4 last Sunday. It’s a development that has seen a good number of fans expressing deep concern about Olafimihan’s goal drought after the1-0 win against Katsina United on Sunday.
But Coach of the side, Edith Olumide Agoye insists that Shooting Stars has in place, free kick strategies and takers.
On Sunday evening against Katsina United, Shooting Stars were awarded seven free kicks but none resulted in goal.
Agoye spoke to www.npfl.ng after the fixture and explained why Isiaka Mutiu executed all free kicks against Katsina United.
“We have players that can take free kicks, it all depends on the type, he began and added, “if it was in a long range position that requires power, we have about two players assigned to take that and another two assigned to take free kicks that require precision”.
He revealed that Mutiu is one of the two players assigned to long range kicks, the reason he played all the seven on Sunday.
Responding on the missed chances that came through corner kicks, set pieces and aerial balls, Agoye said; “Naturally, if you look at the game, apart from those set pieces; we also created chances in the open play”.
He declared satisfaction with the 3SC open play but assured that “we will go back to the drawing board, train and work on set pieces because if you can’t score from open play, set pieces is another area you can utilise, at least, we would have options”.
