AFN’s Basketball, Boxing scribes reassigned in Nigeria Sports Federations shake-up

A total of 57 Secretaries-General along with five officers, have been reassigned to new Sports Federations in Nigeria.


Top among them are Rita Mosindi of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), Basketball and Boxing Federation scribes.


Director of the Federation of Elite Athletes, Olumide Bamiduro explained that the decision aligned with leadership vision of the National Sports Commission chairman Alhaji Shehu Dikko and Director General Hon. Bukola Olopade.

The directive underscores the Commission’s strong commitment to enhancing the functionality and performance of sports federations across the nation.

AthIetics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), will now be handled by Inwang Israel Mfon, formerly with Mixed Martial Arts.

Olalekan Faseesin of Teqball takes over Boxing Federation from Dapo Akinyele and Anusa Agoga Victor of Wheelchair Tennis Federation is now the scribe of Nigeria Scrabble Federation (NSF).

Amina Amanchi who was in Para Athletics has been reassigned to the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), in the latest shake up.

All effort to Keep Mr. Peter Njoku in the NBBF because of his knowledge of the game failed to yield the desired result.

Ikhana Mbora leaves Lagos Office to serve as the deputy director, in charge of Federation, FEAD, while Dapo Akinyele of Nigeria Boxing Federation returns to Lagos as an Assistant Liaison Officer.

The reassigned personnel are expected to play pivotal roles in steering Nigeria’s sports sector toward its new direction, focused on innovation, grassroots and elite development, as well as economic growth.

Cricket, Karate, Rowling and Yatching, Gymnastics, Tennis, Weightlifting, Amputee Football and Kick Boxing were not affected in the changes carried out by NSC
