AFN congress: Participants okay 2025 calendar, approves election for Asaba

The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) Annual General Meeting/ Congress smoothly got off to a bright start in Asaba, Delta State on Saturday with members from 35 states and zones across federation in attendance as Gombe State pulled out claiming illegality of the Congress as it was not properly convened in adherence to AFN constitution.
The Congress after the opening prayers was chaired by the AFN President Chief Tonobok Okowa as he welcomed members to the Congress. At the time of this report the Congress approved the AFN 2025 Calendar of activities.
They also looked into AthIetes welfare with a view to go in tandem with National Sports Commission ideals.
The Congress also approved Asaba as host of 2035 AFN Elective Congress in June.
Even as it also named a three man Committee to review the Federations constitution.
No communique was issued after the meeting for other details to emerge. Although members were informed that the communique would be sent to them in the states.
