President of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) Chief Tonobok Okowa has further explained that the recent dissolution of various standing committees of the federation does not affect the technical director Samuel Onikeku and performance director Victor Okorie.
Recall that AFN had dissolved its standing committees on Saturday after a scheduled executive meeting. However, Chief Okowa stated on Sunday that the duo of Onikeku and Okorie would still perform their roles as Technical Director and performance director.
“We are preparing for our congress soon and Onikeku and Victor Okorie will remain as directors not as chairmen of their committee.
“Yes, all AFN standing committees have been dissolved, but Onikeku and Victor Okorie will continue to function as director of technical and performance, not as chairmen of their committees. They are board members of the federation and we need them to present their scorecards during our Congress. So, I want Nigerians to disregard an online report which said that they were sacked. Both Onikeku and Okorie remain directors of technical and performances,” Okowa stated
