Libya captain, Feisal Al-Badri has said the Mediterranean Knights are in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital to beat the Super Eagles.

He made this known on Thursday at the pre-match press conference of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier billed for the Godswill Akpabio stadium on Friday.

The Super Eagles are overwhelming favourites to win the Group D encounter.

Nasser Al-Hadiri’s side are yet to win a game in the qualifying series.

Apart from this, the coach recently lamented that he lost some key players to injuries, while few others opted out of the squad.

Speaking with reporters in Uyo, he said: “We are aiming to return to Libya with at least a draw after the Super Eagles match. We have not yet reached the required level of readiness to face a strong team like Nigeria.

“The team was not in good shape before I took over. The absence of several players in our first training sessions has made it difficult to establish a comprehensive tactical plan for the match.

“This lack of preparation presents an additional challenge for the team, who will need to put in extra effort to secure a positive result away from home”

Despite these, however, his captain, Al-Badri insisted that the North Africans are in Nigeria to win their first game.

Addressing journalists ahead of the match, he said, “We’re here to win.

“We know we’re up against the strongest team in Africa, but we came here to win.”
