His statement comes amid the face-off between the minister and the senator representing the FCT, Ireti Kingibe.

The senator had in a recent interview accused Wike of failing to prioritize the needs of Abuja residents.

According to her, the residents were unimpressed with Wike’s performance because he focused more on infrastructure than what will benefit them.

Responding to her criticism, Wike threatened he’ll ensure the lawmaker does not return to the senate in 2027.

He said, “I challenge that legislator: if you are very popular, come and run in Abuja in 2027. We will fail you. Do you think what happened last time will happen again? It will not. Luckily for me, I am the FCT minister now, so that is my territory, and I am not afraid.”

Reacting to Wike’s threat, Adeyanju declared that only residents of the FCT, can decide who becomes their senator in 2027.

He further told him that FCT is not Rivers State, where election results are written with guns.

Speaking via a post on X, Adeyanju tweeted: “Only the people of FCT can decide who becomes Senator in 2027, not Wike. The arrogance of power is what will make Wike think he can decide for the people.

“FCT is not Rivers, where people write results and shoot guns. Even incumbent presidents get defeated in the FCT.

“I know these folks have 100% control of INEC and other rigging mechanisms, but the arrogance is truly uncalled for.

“Nigerian politicians are like power drunk Nigerian celebrities and pastors who can boast openly about getting the police to lock you up, and they will eventually do it.”
