The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has advised President Bola Tinubu to take decisive actions against terrorists behind the killings in Nigeria.

He made the call on Friday during the November Holy Ghost Service while reacting to the deteriorating security crisis that triggered the designation of Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) by the U.S. government.

Trump recently designated Nigeria as CPC following disputed claims of the Christian massacre in Nigeria.

He also vowed to withdraw aid from the country, adding that the U.S. military would take out the criminal elements if the Nigerian government fails to do the needful.

Despite the threat by the U.S., most prominent Christian religious leaders in Nigeria have been quiet on the matter.

Recently, the Deeper Christian Life Ministry labeled as “fake news” a claim that its General Superintendent, Pastor William Kumuyi, accused the United States of attempting to steal the country’s natural resources.

Denouncing the viral report in an official statement posted on Pastor Kumuyi’s X page, the church stated, “The story with the headline: ‘America is Trying to Steal our Natural Resources; There is No Christian Genocide in Nigeria, says Pastor Kumuyi,’ is a total fabrication and the figment of the imagination of its authors.”

However, while speaking at the latest Holy Ghost Service, Adeboye said there was no need to blame the current administration, stating that President Bola Tinubu inherited the situation.

“This is not the time for apportioning blame. Our President inherited this problem — it started before him,” he said.

The clergyman went on to urge the President Tinubu-led administration to immediately eliminate the terrorists and their sponsors ahead of the proposed possible U.S. military action in Nigeria.

He added that if the U.S. eventually invades Nigeria as Trump suggested, China, Russia, and other world powers would not come to the country’s defence.

“They would only talk,” he warned.

Adeboye also urged the president to give the newly appointed service chiefs a three-month ultimatum to wipe out criminal elements and their financiers.
