The 2023 presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party, Prince Adewole Adebayo, has extended Ramadan greetings to Muslims in Nigeria and across the world, urging prayers for national renewal and righteous leadership.
In a message marking the commencement of the holy month, Adebayo described Ramadan as a period of spiritual reflection, self-discipline and renewed devotion to God.
He said the season, beyond abstaining from food and drink, represents an opportunity for personal purification, compassion, justice and service to humanity — virtues he noted are urgently needed to restore harmony and good governance in the country.
According to him, leadership is a sacred trust that must be exercised with fairness, sincerity and accountability.
“As we fast, let us renew our commitment to truth, equity and mercy in all our dealings. Let us pray for peace, security and prosperity in our nation, and for leaders who will uphold justice without bias,” he said.
The former presidential candidate also prayed for divine forgiveness, healing for the sick and relief for those facing hardship.
In the spirit of charity associated with Ramadan, Adebayo announced the distribution of 18,000 relief packages, including bags of rice, to vulnerable households across eight states.
The outreach, coordinated by the party’s Directorate of Special Operations under Ambassador Lawan Uba, covers Adamawa, Taraba, Borno, Yobe, Katsina, Zamfara, Sokoto and Kebbi states.
According to the organisers, the packages are intended to ease the burden on fasting families and enable them to observe the holy month with dignity.
The initiative also includes the sponsorship of Tafsir sessions throughout Ramadan to promote deeper understanding of the Qur’an and encourage moral and spiritual reflection.
Uba said the intervention reflects Adebayo’s belief that governance should be anchored on compassion and service to the people.
“This effort goes beyond politics, ethnicity or social status. It is about shared humanity and the responsibility to support the vulnerable,” he said.
Adebayo expressed hope that the Ramadan season would herald spiritual revival, national reconciliation and a renewed commitment to justice and righteousness in Nigeria.
“Ramadan Mubarak,” he added.
