Addo said since Nigeria didn’t get an away goal in Kumasi, today’s game plays into their hands, as a goal from Ghana will mean the Super Eagles must score twice

Black Stars gaffer, Otto Addo, has disclosed his team’s strategy for the reverse fixture of the World Cup playoff between Ghana and Nigeria billed for the Moshood Abiola Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The 46-year-old tactician believes there is no favourite between the teams because they are on the same level, arguing that his team will have a slight edge if they get a goal in the tie.

Ghana and Nigeria played out a goalless draw in the first leg of the encounter in  Kumasi last week, therefore, the side who wins today’s encounter will progress to the World Cup.

But Addo thinks Ghana will be in a more comfortable position if they can get a goal in Nigeria. As that will give them an away goal even if Nigeria gets an equalizer.

A goal for the visitors in the game will mean Nigeria must score two goals to progress and these will make the tie more difficult for the home side.

The former Borussia Dortmund player, who said the first leg tie was balanced,  argued that the need to prevent Ghana from getting a goal in today’s game will play into their hands, as a goal will hurt Nigeria more than Ghana.

“To be honest, I don’t think we are better than Nigeria and I don’t think they are better than us, it was an equal game, I think everybody saw and it will be very, very equal tomorrow,” he told the press on Monday.

“I can’t say that they are favorites, we are favorites, but what I can say is if we shoot one goal, it hurts more than if they should,” Addo added.
