“In all due respect to the National Assembly, we have learnt over time that the Senate confirmation, especially this Senate has declared that whatever the President wants, the President gets.

“So, I think it’s just formality that Amupitan goes to the Senate to be screened. It’s because it’s required, that’s why it’s done. There’s no way he would have been turned back for any reason whatsoever” – Abdullahi, ADC spokesperson.

Senate confirmation of Joash Amupitan as Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman on October 16 was “just formality” as the Chamber already pledged that “whatever the President wants, the President gets”, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has reminded the public.

ADC National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi made the point on Channels Television where he cited the deal that Senate President Godswill Akpabio already coopted his colleagues to do for a yes pattern for all requests from Bola Tinubu

There’s no way he would have been turned back for any reason whatsoever,” he said.

But, Abdullahi added, the ADC will give Amupitan a fair chance to deliver on his promises, as Nigeria’s electoral challenges are rooted in human factor, not the absence of infrastructure or technology.
