John Dumelo in 2020 contested the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency election and narrowly lost to NPP’s Alhassan

Ace Ghanaian actor, John Dumelo has become a lawmaker in his country after winning one of the parliamentary elections held on Saturday.
He achieved the feat after emerging as the winner of the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency election.
Dumelo, who contested on the platform of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) defeated the incumbent, Lydia Alhassan of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The thespian according to Ghana’s electoral umpire won his constituency with 40,561 votes, while Lydia Alhassan polled 27,377.

Speaking after he was declared winner, he said, “This victory is not just for me, but for the people of Ayawaso West. I am committed to ensuring that we build a stronger, more prosperous community together.”
Prior to this development, the actor contested for the constituency seat in 2020, but narrowly lost to Alhassan.
Dumelo, who began his acting career in 1991 while he was still in school, has featured in several Gollywood and Nollywood movies.
Some of his movies include 4Play, 40 Looks Good on You, A Northern Affair, Adams Apples, A Private Storm, A Night with Her, After the Wedding, Black Men Rock, Blackmoney, and Beautiful Ruins, to mention a few.
