Human rights activist and lawyer Dele Farotimi has suggested that the 2027 general elections might be compromised by President Bola Tinubu, the judiciary, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He made this known on Wednesday night in a trending post shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) page.
Farotimi’s comments followed INEC’s removal of the names of David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola from its official portal, where they were listed as the National Chairman and the National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), respectively.
The electoral body stated: “Since the names of the current National Working Committee members led by Senator David Mark were uploaded on 9th September 2025 by INEC (seven days after the suit was instituted), the names would be removed from the INEC portal pursuant to the order of the Court of Appeal to maintain the status quo ante bellum until the matter is decided by the trial court.”
INEC added that it will not recognise factions within the opposition party or monitor any conventions or congresses organised by groups aligned with the affected leaders.
Reacting to the development, Farotimi noted that while opposition parties are gearing up for the 2027 polls, other actors are preparing for a coronation.
Speaking via his verified handle, Farotimi said: “The opposition are preparing for an election; INEC, the judiciary, and Tinubu are prepping for a coronation.”
