An Abuja based restaurant identified on Instagram as Vibebyanns has threatened to sue celebrity chef, Hilda Baci for breach of agreement.
Baci rose to fame after completing a 100 hours and 40 mins cooking marathon during an attempt to break a Guinness World Record (GWR) cook-a-thon record set by an Indian chef in 2019.
After the incredible feat, the restaurant told Abuja residents that they had reached an agreement with the chef and they would have to pay N25k to meet and watch her cook, only for her to deny any knowledge of the event via a tweet.
In an ugly turn of events, the brand involved has now put a statement titled ” NOTICE OF CANCELLATION OF EVENT SCHEDULED FOR THE 24th of JUNE 2023″ affirming that both parties concluded arrangements for the event.
According to Vibebyanns, Hilda was paid some money for the event and for embarrassing its brand, she would be facing legal action.
The statement read: “We regret to inform you that the highly anticipated event, scheduled to take place on 24th June 2023, has been canceled. We extend our sincere apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused, you, our esteemed customers.
“Arrangements for this event were already concluded, as both parties agreed to put out publications for the event, after an advanced payment was made to Miss Hilda Bassey. However, Hilda Bassey, suddenly denied publicly having any prior knowledge of the event.
“Her conduct has negatively affected our reputation as a brand. Consequently, we are taking all necessary legal steps, towards ensuring that justice is seen to have been done in this matter.”

Another internet user, generallado said: “It was obvious she lied about having no knowledge of the event. The backlash scared her and she chickened out. Do event if you wan do, those wey go pay go pay. But this kind gutter behaviour is counter productive because you don use your own affect another brand.”
