Abiodun, presidency congratulate S’Eagles after beating Angola

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun has congratulated the Super Eagles after they defeated Angola and qualified for the semi-final of the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).

A single goal from Ademola Lookman in the 41st minute of the game ensured Nigeria booked a place in the last four of the tournament.

Reacting to the victory, the governor praised the resilience, tenacity and the team spirit displayed by the players in overcoming their South African opponents.

He then urged them to do Nigeria proud by qualifying for the finals of the African football showpiece.

Abiodun said: “I extend my warmest congratulations to our beloved Super Eagles on their impressive triumph over Angola, securing a well-deserved spot in the semi-finals of the African Cup of Nations.

“The team’s extraordinary display of skill, tenacity, and teamwork has made our nation proud. This victory is a testament to their hard work and dedication, and I commend every player and member of the coaching staff for their exceptional performance.

“As a state, we stand firmly behind our national team and will continue to support them as they strive for further success.”

Similarly, the Presidency has praised the  Super Eagles for qualifying for the semi-finals of AFCON.

This was revealed via a post on the X page of President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

He congratulated Ademola Lookman for scoring the vital goal and Moses Simon for his assist. He went on to hail Victor Osimhen for continually terrorizing the Angola’s defence.

Speaking on his social media page, Onanuga tweeted: “Congrats Super Eagles for qualifying for the semi finals of AFCON 2023, with vital goal scored by Ademola Lookman.

“Nigeria, qualifying for the 16th time, has now equaled Egypt’s record for most semi-final appearances.

“Congrats to Moses Simon, who provided the assist to Lookman and was also crowned Man of the Match.

“Congrats to Victor Osimhen for continually terrorising the Angola defence. The goals will come, be rest assured.”
