Abia Warriors mourn Kelechi Emetole

The management of Abia Warriors Football Club of Umuahia has consoled the families of former Green Eagles player and Coach Kelechi Emetole who passed on Tuesday night.
In a release, the Chairman of the club, Chief Emeka Inyama described the demise of the man popularly called “Caterpillar” as one death too many within the football circle in the last one year.
“It is precisely one year that we lost both Coaches Shuaibu Amodu and Stephen Keshi, now it is another of the veteran coaches Kelechi Emetole.
“We pray that God should grant his family the fortitude to bear the lost”.
Kelechi Emetole who hails from Isiukwuato in Abia State played for the defunct Spartans FC of Owerri, Enugu Rangers and was a member of the Green Eagles that played the 1976 African Nations Cup.
He assisted Sebastian Broderick to win the FIFA Under-16 World Cup in 1985. He also assisted Shuaibu Amodu in the Super Eagles and handled the first Beach Soccer team to the Beach soccer tournament in South Africa.
