Commissioners in Abia State have been warned that any ministry that under-performs will be scrapped or merged with performing ones to give the electorate the best run for their votes.
Information and Strategy Commissioner, Bonnie Iwuoha, said synergy among ministries topped the agenda of the inaugural State Executive Council (SEC) meeting chaired by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.
He explained that the SEC reconstituted the Finance and General Purposes Committee (F&GPC) and also ratified the report of the disbanded team to ensure a smooth drive by motorists.
He said the report is on road projects.
Iwuoha, former Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) national president, was accompanied at the briefing at Government House by two Commissioners, Eziuche Ubani (Works) and Nnenna Onwuka (Transport), and Ikpeazu’s Chief Press Secretary, Godwin Adindu.
He stressed the importance of synergy among commissioners and the cooperation of the media to bring to the public factual account of happenings in the state, assuring that there would be no hoarding of information.
Ubani, also a former journalist and two-time member of the House of Representatives, reiterated that the government is doing everything possible to complete all road projects for traffic to flow freely.
He said the portions of the major roads leading to Umuahia and Aba would be handled expeditiously.
Onwuka warned that the government will not tolerate hike in fares by commercial drivers to exploit commuters.
She promised government programmes that would put smiles on the faces of Abians.
