Both the presidential and the National Assembly (NASS) elections are billed for February 14.

ANTLET endorsed Ohuabunwa at a meeting in Lagos and resolved to commence voter mobilisation this week, according to a statement, which said the exercise will be held between February 3 and 12 in the five councils in Abia North.

The statement, signed by ANTLET Chairman, Iheanyi Orji, explained that the group’s members include businessmen and women, professionals, as well as religious and town union leaders.

It said given the proven record of Ohuabunwa, he remains the best candidate to provide effective representation for the zone.

“Our group is concerned about electing a very competent and tested representative, a senator that will be highly resourceful and one that will bring the dividends of democracy to the people of Abia North through focused and qualitative representation,” the statement said in part.

The group explained that it chose Ohuabunwa because of his antecedents as a member the House of Representatives from 1999 to 2007, during which he was Deputy Majority and South East Caucus Leader.

ANTLET recalled that through his legislative effort, the Ohafia-Arochukwu-Ipke road was included in the federal government’s budget for three consecutive years (2001-2003).

Also, the 2003 and 2004 budgets realised these projects: Isu rural electrification, Ihechiowa rural electrification/power station, water schemes in Nkporo, Arochukwu, Abiriba, and Ohafia, as well as school blocks in Arochukwu, Idima Abam, sponsored by Universal Basic Education (UBE)

“Mao has constructed several classroom blocks, sunk boreholes, donated trophies, sports wears/kits to several villages and student unions.

“He gave scholarship to deserving pupils and students, he also disbursed millions of naira to widows through the Mao Ohuabunwa Foundation.

“He is a credible and articulate politician whose resourcefulness was showcased as treasurer of ECOWAS parliament and member inter-parliamentary union (IPU) and Speaker ECOWAS parliament where he left visible and indelible marks,” ANTLET added.
