Blessing Okagbare will lead Nigeria’s contingent to the African Athletics Championships (AAC) holding in Marrakech, Morocco, from Sunday, August 10 to Thursday, August 14.
Africa’s fastest woman, Blessing Okagbare is expected to lead Team Nigeria to Glasgow 2014
Having conquered at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Okagbare would be hoping to carry over her double sprint gold into the championship in Morocco.
The Nigerian athlete set a new Commonwealth Games record, when she finished in 10.85 seconds to win the 100m event.
She will, in Morocco, still compete in the three events that earned her medals in Glasgow – 100m, 200m and the 4x100m.
Deborah Odeyemi, Justina Sule, Weyinmi Lindsay, Gloria Asumnu, Lawretta Uzoh, Folashade Abugan, Omolara Omotsoho, Patience Okon, Ada Benjamin and Funke Oladoye are some of the female athletes listed to represent Nigeria at the competition.
In the male category are Mark Jelks, Mozavous Edwards, Ogho-Oghene Egwero, Obinna Metu, Divine Oduduru, Seye Ogunlewe, Tyron Akins, Alex Al-Ameen, Martins Ogieriakhi and Amaechi Morton.
