He said that the accused impersonated a serving member of the Nigeria Police Force by wearing a complete police uniform with the rank of a Sergeant.

“He was arrested by a police patrol team and was asked to identify himself by presenting his identity card, which he could not.

“The accused told the police that he was sacked in Ogun for misconduct but he was still retaining his uniform.

“He said that he wears the uniform to make a living since he does not have any other job,” the prosecutor said.

Olatunde said the offence contravened Section 77 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

Section 77 prescribes a three-year jail term as penalty for offenders.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Mr Akeem Fashola, granted him bail in the sum of N250, 000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till Oct.10 for mention. (NAN)
