Iranian government said on Monday in Teheran that a major earthquake struck the western Iranian city of Abdanan on Monday, leaving 60 people injured.
It said the quake was 6.1 magnitude .

It said water, electricity, and telephone lines in Abdanan, located in the province of Ilam, have been cut, while houses, buildings and cars in the city were destroyed.

It said the aftershocks could be felt in three provinces including Ilam, Lorestan and Khuzestan.
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) puts the earthquake at 6.3 magnitudes and at a depth of 10 kilometres.
It said that Iran sits on major geological fault-lines and has suffered several big earthquakes in recent years. Reuters
