Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has surprised fashion enthusiasts after making a special appearance on the runway at the 2026 Lagos Fashion Week held at the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The governor walked alongside professional models on Saturday, October 31, showcasing a collection by Nigerian fashion designer, Ugo Monye.

Sanwo-Olu appeared in a regal off-white outfit which blended traditional Nigerian fashion with a modern kimono-inspired design. He completed his look with a beige hat and received cheers from the audience as he made his way down the runway.

Reflecting on the experience, the governor said he enjoyed every moment of the appearance while reaffirming his support for the state’s creative industry.

“I had a great time on the runway at Lagos Fashion Week. Lagos continues to grow as a home for fashion, creativity and culture, and I am always happy to support the people driving this growth.»

“I am proud of our creatives who continue to push boundaries and put Lagos firmly on the global fashion stage. This is Lagos. We move differently,” Sanwo-Olu said.

The 2026 edition of Lagos Fashion Week, which ran from October 28 to November 1, brought together designers, models and fashion enthusiasts from across Africa to celebrate creativity, culture and craftsmanship.
