Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, has fired back at the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, saying he knows nothing about economics.
The presidential aide threw the jab at the former Vice-President on Monday, 26 October 2026, in a post shared on his official X page.
Onanuga’s remarks followed comments by Vice-President Kashim Shettima criticizing Atiku’s proposals and his advocacy for restoring fuel subsidies.

Reacting via the post on his verified handle, the presidential spokesperson questioned the ADC chieftain’s knowledge of the Nigerian economy.
According to him, Atiku’s only qualification before joining the Customs service was as a “sanitary inspector”, adding that he knows nothing about economics.

Addressing the Adamawa State-born politician on X, Onanuga wrote: “You know nothing about economics. Atiku Abubakar’s only qualification before joining the Nigerian Customs was as a sanitary inspector. You wonder what he knows about economics.”
