Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi has acknowledged that he is not a saint, but insisted he is more trustworthy than those contesting the 2027 presidential election with him.

The former Anambra State governor made the claim recently during a town hall meeting with his supporters in the United Kingdom.

While lamenting the level of hardship in Nigeria, the NDC chieftain charged Nigerians to vote for someone who has proven to be productive.

He also bragged that he did what no other governor ever did while he was in office, noting that he saved money for the incoming administration.

Obi also enjoined Nigerians in the diaspora to insist their loved ones in the country elect leaders who can build a “Nigeria that works for all” instead of sending money home.

Addressing the audience, the former governor said, “You have people at home in Nigeria today who are begging you for money. Tell them no! Let’s put somebody who has proven to be productive.

”I’m not saying I’m a saint, but I saved money. No governor has done it. Let’s start with this one that is less corrupt. That’s how other countries change.

”Enough of all these. We need to achieve our collective purpose of building a New Nigeria that works for all, which is centred on tackling corruption and electing competent leaders with capacity, character, compassion, and commitment to unite, secure, and move the nation from consumption to production.”
