Natasha Osawaru, an Edo State House of Assembly member and wife of Afrobeats star Innocent Idibia—better known as 2Baba—has sparked an online debate after her nameplate at the assembly complex bore only “Osawaru Natasha Irobosa”.
In footage that made the rounds on Wednesday, 13 October 2026, the name tag in front of the Minority Leader representing Egor Constituency curiously omitted her husband’s surname, Idibia, as she spoke during a plenary session.
While delivering remarks in support of a bill—which she described as timely—she addressed her fellow lawmakers, citing Section 14, Subsection 2(b) of the 1999 Nigerian Constitution and highlighting the state’s vulnerability to flooding, erosion, fire outbreaks, and communal crises.
However, despite her impressive speech, it was the name on the podium nameplate that caught the attention of the majority of netizens who reacted to the now-trending video.

The couple’s relationship has been under serious public scrutiny since August 2026, when Natasha reportedly showed up unannounced at a nightclub in Abuja where 2Baba was scheduled to perform.
The singer’s management later revealed that the couple had been estranged for months and described the encounter as an attempted abduction.
The tension between the duo became even more evident in late September 2026, when Natasha noticeably missed 2Baba’s 51st birthday celebration and album listening party in Lagos. Shortly after, she unfollowed him on Instagram.
Again, her decision to omit “Idibia” from her name while celebrating her appointment as Minority Leader—even though it remained visible in her Instagram bio at the time—further added fuel to the speculation.
While reacting to the clip showing that her formal nameplate at the podium bore only her maiden name during official proceedings, most Nigerians concluded that their marriage has indeed ended.
