Kano State governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has been dropped from the final list of candidates released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to participate in the 2027 governorship election in the state.
This development followed the release on Saturday of the final list of candidates for various positions across the nation in the upcoming 2027 general elections by the electoral umpire.
The latest list by the electoral commission comes after a Supreme Court judgment regarding party membership, which was delivered on 24 September in compliance with the statutory requirements governing the submission and use of political parties’ membership registers for party primaries, congresses, and conventions.

While the names of gubernatorial candidates for the All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and African Democratic Congress (ADC) are on the list—which features 17 candidates from different political parties—Gwarzo’s name was conspicuously missing.
Those listed by INEC include Gashash Mukhtar of Party A; Haruna Abdullahi of the Action Alliance (AA); Sharif Abba of the African Action Congress (AAC); Ibrahim Ali Amin of the African Democratic Congress (ADC); and Muhammad Abdullahi of the Action Democratic Party (ADP).
Others are Bari Mustapha Bello of the Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA); Santuraki Hamisu of the Labour Party (LP); Abdullahi Mustapha of the National Democratic Party (NDP); Abacha Muhammed Sani of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP); Koguna Nasiru Hassan of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP); Hussaini Bello Ado of the Social Democratic Party (SDP); and Nuhu Isa of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).
