The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has corroborated claims that the twenty prospective members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), who were recently abducted on their way to their respective camps, have regained their freedom.
The revered monarch confirmed the rescue of the victims on Wednesday evening through his Media Aide, Adeola Oloko.
TheNiche had earlier reported that the prospective NYSC members and a civilian—who were kidnapped after leaving Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Wednesday, 30 September, for the NYSC camp in Bende, Abia State—were rescued in a joint operation by security agencies..
According to security sources, they were freed following an intelligence-led search operation launched by operatives of the military, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the police after the abduction.
It was further revealed that the victims are now receiving medical attention at an undisclosed DSS facility.

While confirming their release to Daily Post, Oloko noted that the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, called the Olubadan and informed him of their release.
He said, ‘The prospective members of the NYSC who were abducted have been released.
‘The Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, confirmed this in a telephone conversation with the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, at 5.00 pm today, Wednesday.
‘It is true. It is good that you want to double-check.’
Earlier, distraught parents of the NYSC members had visited the palace of the Olubadan to appeal to him to use his good offices to ensure their children were rescued by the government.
