According to Leon, in 2012, he took a young Burna Boy to the house of Duncan Mighty—who was already a major force in Rivers State following the success of songs including “Port Harcourt First Son”—with the aim of securing a guest verse for him.

The photographer, who claimed he worked with both artists, went on to narrate that the meeting with the 42-year-old artist did not go as planned.

He added that after Duncan Mighty listened to Burna Boy’s unreleased songs which were presented to him, he rejected them outright.

Leon added that the veteran musician reportedly told the aspiring singer that the songs did not sound good and that he would not collaborate with him.

He further revealed that the rejection was devastating for the young artiste, who was looking for his big break at the time.

He also disclosed that a heartbroken Grammy-winning singer cried throughout the drive back home in his mother’s Honda, but vowed that tables would turn one day and that Duncan Mighty would be the person looking for him to request a feature.

Leon, in the now-viral clip, said, “Duncan Mighty made Burna Boy cry after saying he didn’t like any of his songs. I took Burna to Duncan’s house to get a verse. He drove me home in his mom’s Honda, still crying, and promised Duncan would beg him for a verse in future.”

He concluded that years after the encounter, Burna Boy went on to become a global Afrobeats superstar and successstory.
