Ondo State governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has openly embraced the Rainbow Coalition arrangement championed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike, despite opposition from a lot of fellow All Progressives Congress (APC) governors.

He expressed support for the alliance on Monday while appearing as a guest on a programme aired by Channels Television.

Earlier, the ruling party’s governors led by Imo State governor, Hope Uzodinma, resolved to reject the proposed multi-party coalition, arguing that it could jeopardise the political ambitions of APC members seeking various elective positions.

The opposition later led to a growing division among the APC governors, after some them openly aligning with Wike and the coalition.

Wadding into the saga during his interview, Governor, Aiyedatiwa insisted that there was nothing wrong with the coalition being proposed.

He went on to justify the arrangement by stressing that those involved were ultimately working towards the re-election of President Bola Tinubu.

“The Rainbow Coalition led by Wike, there’s nothing wrong with having a coalition. If the Rainbow Coalition is supporting President Tinubu, what is wrong with that?, he said.

Aiyedatiwa went on to note that he has a relationship with the former River State governor, stressing that he backed him when he contest as governor.

The governor added, “I don’t have any problem with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, but in my state, it’s APC all the way. I have a relationship with Wike.

“He supported me when I ran for governor under the APC, despite being a PDP member. He didn’t support the PDP candidate at the time.”
