Businessman Igho Ubiribo underwent five penis-enlargement procedures before fatal one – Thai Health Ministry

Thai health authorities have revealed that Nigerian-British businessman Igho Ubiribo had undergone five penis-enlargement procedures at a clinic in Bangkok before his death.
The disclosure was contained in a statement released on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, by Thailand’s Department of Health Service Support (DHSS).
Ubiribo was confirmed dead on September 5, 2026, after undergoing a penis-enlargement procedure at the clinic. The circumstances surrounding his death have sparked widespread reactions among Nigerians and raised questions about the clinic’s practices and standards.
Following the incident, and in an effort to reassure the public and restore confidence in Thailand’s medical facilities, the Department of Health Service Support, acting on the instructions of Thailand’s Minister of Public Health, Pattana Promphat, launched an investigation into the clinic.
The statement said the minister had instructed Dr. Somruk Chungsaman, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Public Health, to direct the DHSS and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to investigate the circumstances surrounding Ubiribo’s death.
“Therefore, to ensure fairness and reassure both Thai and foreign patients that they will receive quality, standard, and beneficial services from Thai medical facilities, he instructed Dr. Somruk Chungsaman, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Public Health, to order the DHSS and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to investigate,” the statement said.
According to findings from the ongoing investigation, Ubiribo had reportedly been a regular patient at the clinic since 2024, where he received five injections intended to enlarge his penis.
The clinic’s management said the first four injections were administered between 2024 and 2025. The fifth procedure, carried out on March 5, 2026, involved the injection of 40cc of filler into his penis.
Ubiribo reportedly died later that same day. According to information provided by his wife to the medical team, he had gone for a massage after receiving the injection.
Following concerns that he may have developed a blood clot, the hospital reportedly prepared to conduct a CT angiography, a scan using contrast dye to produce detailed images of the blood vessels.
However, during the procedure, Ubiribo reportedly became unconscious and lost his pulse. Medical personnel immediately began cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), but efforts to revive him were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead.
The clinic’s management also told investigators that the doctor had recommended that the fifth treatment be administered over two injection sessions. Ubiribo, however, reportedly preferred to receive the procedure in a single session.
The clinic said it provided post-operative care instructions after each treatment and conducted follow-up procedures. It also stated that Ubiribo signed consent forms before each treatment.
After recording the statements, investigators inspected the clinic, reviewed its standards and procedures, and collected relevant facts and evidence.
The investigation remains ongoing, and the clinic has not been charged with malpractice or any other wrongdoing at this time.
