Gov. Radda bags three awards for sports development

Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda has received three separate awards in recognition of his contributions to sports development in the state.

The awards were presented by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Katsina Fives Association and the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Katsina State Chapter.

The awards were presented to the Governor by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Engr. Suraj Yazeed Abukur, and the Special Adviser on Youth Development, Hon. Ahmed Lara Malumfashi, on the sidelines of the State Executive Council meeting held yesterday.

The NFF recognised Governor Radda for his support for the 5th edition of the 2026 Katsina Pre-Season Tournament, organised by former NFF President, Ibrahim Gusau.

The Governor has continued to support the tournament and other initiatives aimed at promoting football development and creating opportunities for young players in Katsina State.

The Katsina Fives Association also presented Governor Radda with an Award of Excellence for his continued support of the association.

The award recognised his sponsorship of the association’s participation in tournaments and competitions across Nigeria, as well as other national and international sporting activities.

Similarly, the Katsina State Chapter of SWAN presented Governor Radda with an Award of Honour.

The award recognised his administration’s support for sports-related activities and programmes organised by the association.

Receiving the awards, Governor Radda thanked the organisations for recognising his contributions to sports development.

“We are committed to supporting our young people and creating opportunities for them to develop their talents. With sustained support from government and the private sector, I am confident that our youths can win laurels for Katsina State and Nigeria at both national and international competitions,” Governor Radda said.

The three awards reflect growing recognition of the Radda administration’s efforts to support athletes, clubs, sporting associations and the overall development of sports in Katsina State.
