The Osun election commenced on Saturday, with voters turning out to elect a governor who will pilot the affairs of the state for the next four years.

Security operatives have reportedly arrested over 100 suspected “imported” voters allegedly brought into Osun State ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
In a now-trending video clip on social media, the accused were seen being interrogated by security operatives over their role in the fraudulent attempt to rig the ongoing poll.
The voters, who were allegedly carrying newly issued Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), were said to be camping at the residence of Hon. Abiola Ibrahim, a member of the Osun State House of Assembly representing the Irewole-Isokan Constituency.
During the interrogation, the state lawmaker reportedly admitted that the group had been staying at his residence, claiming that they were there “to vote for the Accord Party in the election.”

The arrest came amid heightened political tension in Osun, with allegations of intimidation, arrests, violence, and other electoral irregularities being raised by different political actors ahead of the election.
Meanwhile, the Accord Party had previously accused security agencies and other federal institutions of targeting its members and supporters ahead of the poll.
In a petition dated 12 August 2026, the party’s National Chairman, Maxwell Mgbudem, appealed to the European Union to intervene in what he described as a worsening political crisis in the state.
As of the time of this report, the Osun State Police Command (INEC) and the Osun State government are yet to react to the allegation.
