Ahmad further argued that the restriction of human and vehicular movement during an election is not peculiar to Osun State.

Bashir Ahmad, a former presidential aide to former president Muhammadu Buhari, has waded into allegations by music star David Adeleke, better known as Davido, that soldiers are planning to prevent him from entering Osun State ahead of Saturday’s governorship election, insisting the claims are untenable.
He criticised the singer for making such assertions in a post shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) page on Saturday.
Earlier, Davido had taken to the same platform to allege he had been informed that soldiers would stop him from entering the state to rally support for his uncle, incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke.
He went on to say he would resist such a move, adding that as a citizen of Nigeria, he has freedom of movement whenever he deems fit.
“I’ve been reliably informed that soldiers are trying to prevent me from entering Osun tomorrow. This won’t happen; every citizen of Nigeria has the right to movement at any point in time,” the ‘Electricity’ hitmaker said.

Reacting, Ahmad said security agencies had already announced restrictions on movement across the state as part of measures to ensure a peaceful election prior to Davido’s allegations.
He also noted that the restrictions were expected to remain in place from midnight until 6 pm on Saturday, adding that such measures were not peculiar to Osun State.
While claiming that Davido was being “dramatic”, he added that the singer’s right to movement could not override “lawful security measures”.
Ahmad wrote: “You are just being dramatic, @davido. It has been widely announced by security agencies that movement in and around Osun will be restricted from 12 midnight until 6 pm today due to the election, and this is a standard security measure during elections everywhere—not peculiar to Osun.
“So the right to freedom of movement does not mean ignoring lawful security measures put in place to ensure a peaceful and credible election.”
