Kebbi State High Court judge, Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza, has regained his freedom and returned home safely following his abduction by suspected bandits a week ago.
His release was confirmed on Monday by a family member, who said the judge was reunited with his family earlier in the day.
The family member went on to describe the judge’s return as a moment of thanksgiving.
“We are filled with joy and gratitude to God for bringing him back safely. It has been a difficult week, but today our family is celebrating his return,” the source said.

The family expressed appreciation to all those who stood by them during the ordeal.
“We sincerely thank and appreciate the Kebbi State Judiciary, the security agencies, and the entire people of Kebbi State who contributed in different ways, offered prayers, and sent messages of sympathy. Your concern and support gave us strength, and we are grateful for your solidarity,” the family member stated.
According to the relative, the prayers, encouragement, and solidarity shown by many people helped the family remain hopeful during the ordeal.
The judge’s abduction last week drew widespread concern across the state, with calls for his immediate and safe release.
As of the time of filing this report, the Kebbi State Judiciary and security agencies have not released an official statement.
