According to the reporter, the former Manchester United and Arsenal striker has already agreed terms with the Blues over a two-year contract.

He went on to say that Welbeck, who scored 10 goals last season in all competitions for Brighton, is now expected to finalise his move to Chelsea in the coming days.

“Welbeck agreed terms with Chelsea until 2028, medical next; Brighton approved decision to let him go after formal request from Danny.”

Romano, while hinting at other impending deals expected to be finalised by the Blues before the transfer window closes, added: “Jordan Henderson: coming soon”.

Prior to this, reports in England suggested Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso had approved a move for the 35-year-old forward as he seeks to add a bit of experience to his squad.
