Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has made it clear to politicians in the state that the upcoming off-cycle governorship election scheduled for 15 August can neither be rigged nor stolen.
He made this known while addressing supporters at a campaign rally in Oke-Ila, Ifedayo Local Government Area of the state.
According to a statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor said the people were ready to defend their votes and assured voters that every vote cast would count.
“I heard some politicians vowing to steal the votes. Where and how? Osun votes are untouchable. This is Osun State, the heart of the Yoruba nation. Nobody can rig us out here,” Adeleke said.
He added: “The people’s votes will be defended. Their will on 15 August will become a reality.”

The governor, who is seeking a second term in office, further said: “Osun people are not scared. Osun people are not cowards. They will vote and defend their votes.”
Adeleke went on to boast that his administration’s achievements would help him secure victory, adding, “Our records speak for us.”
Also speaking when the governor paid him a courtesy call during the rally, the Orangun of Oke-Ila, Oba (Dr) Adedokun Omoniyi Abolarin (Aroyinkeye I), praised the governor for bringing massive development to Osun State.
He added that Adeleke has acted in line with his chieftaincy title of “Soludero of Oke-Ila” by delivering good governance and democratic dividends to every corner of the state.
“Your Excellency, in your second term, Ifedayo presents your government with an ideal site to develop tourism and sports facilities. The landscape and terrain are conducive to a sports academy, mountain hiking, and tourism resorts,” the royal father said.
