Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni has applauded his players for defeating England 2-1 in the semi-final of the World Cup and advancing to the final of the tournament on Wednesday.
He hailed them while addressing journalists after the feisty encounter played at the Atlanta Stadium.
Argentina dominated the early exchanges, but it was England who opened the scoring in the 55th minute when Anthony Gordon netted Morgan Rogers’ perfect cross.
Scaloni’s men then got a deserved equaliser in the 85th minute when Enzo Fernández’s brilliant 20-yard strike beat Pickford in the England goal.
Argentina capped off the remarkable comeback deep into the match when Lautaro Martínez headed home an assist from Lionel Messi.

Speaking after the win, Scaloni expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the fixture, saying the victory will bring joy to the entire country.
He went on to say what his players are doing is ‘incredible’ and promised that his team will attempt to win back-to-back World Cup trophies.
”From the bottom of my heart, these players led us to victory. I’m lost for words. A joy for our country, for our people,” Scaloni said.
He added: “The other day I said this group never stops surprising me. And I’ll tell you the truth, we’re going to try to win, we’re going to leave everything out there.
”But after this it’s very difficult to get people to understand what these players are showing. It’s incredible. We are unique, truly, and it’s not arrogance, it’s from the heart.”
