Ex-Ondo political appointees laud Aiyedatiwa, seek payment of severance allowances

Members of the Forum of Former Political Appointees (FFPA) in Ondo State have appealed to Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa to facilitate the payment of their outstanding severance allowances.

The forum, in a letter addressed to the governor, commended his administration for ongoing developmental projects across the state, noting that the achievements have continued to boost public confidence in his leadership.

The former appointees particularly lauded the recent payment of outstanding pensions, describing it as a significant relief to many retirees and a demonstration of the administration’s commitment to the welfare of citizens.

They also praised the ongoing road network improvements across the state, which they said have restored ease of movement and enhanced the dignity of residents.

The group further highlighted the construction of the Akure city overhead bridge, noting that the project reflects the governor’s forward thinking approach to infrastructure development and urban renewal.

According to the forum, the visible strides of the administration have strengthened their belief in the governor’s vision for the overall progress of Ondo State.

The FFPA, however, expressed concern over the non-payment of their severance allowances, stating that many former appointees have been facing financial difficulties since leaving office.

They noted that several members of the forum exited public service with little or no financial support, relying on the expectation that their entitlements would be paid in due course.

The group explained that the delay in payment has led to mounting personal obligations, including children’s school fees, house rent, and healthcare needs.

“Many of us are struggling silently, yet we remain committed to supporting and defending this administration because we believe in its vision,” the forum stated.

They appealed to the governor to consider the immediate payment of the allowances, stressing that even a partial disbursement would go a long way in alleviating their current challenges.

The former appointees expressed optimism that the governor would address their concerns in line with his demonstrated commitment to inclusive governance and social welfare.

They also offered prayers for the success of the administration, asking for divine wisdom and strength for the governor to navigate political challenges and deliver lasting development.

The forum reaffirmed its loyalty to the government and reiterated its belief that the current administration would not overlook their contributions to the state.

They urged Governor Aiyedatiwa to use the opportunity to further reinforce his legacy as a leader who prioritises the welfare of all stakeholders in Ondo State.
