Emeka Ike insists it’s more charitable to join street begging than date for money

​Emeka Ike argued that love only exists in relationships or marriages where the woman does not set out to defraud an unsuspecting man.

​Nollywood actor Emeka Ike has urged ladies who date for money to join street begging instead, insisting that dating for financial benefit equates to a “romantic scam”.

​The veteran movie star made the assertion during a recent candid interview with BBC Pidgin.

​According to him, some ladies go into relationships with the primary aim of raising funds, adding that such a practice amounts to fraud.

​He went on to claim love only exists in relationships where the woman does not set out to defraud an unsuspecting man.

​Speaking during the chat, Emeka Ike said: “Love and marriage is not a scam. But there are a few hungry people who are using relationships as meal tickets. That’s where it becomes a scam.

​”Love is beautiful. If you find someone who genuinely likes you, it’s very sweet. But when you are liking him or her for an end they are not aware of, that’s a scam.

​”A lot of girls are going into relationships because of what they want to get from the man. They should just join street begging instead of using relationships to raise money.

​”Relationship is supposed to be sacred. Love is the pillar of every good relationship. Let’s stop messing it up in Nigeria. Let’s stop pretending that we are in love just to raise money. A relationship shouldn’t be a source of income.”
