England came from behind to defeat the Democratic Republic of Congo 2-1 and book their place in the Round of 16 at this year’s World Cup.
In a match played at the Atlanta Stadium, DR Congo took a shock lead as early as the 7th minute through Brian Cipenga, who beat Pickford at his near post after an assist from Chancel Mbemba.
The Three Lions’ captain, Harry Kane, however, scored twice in the final 15 minutes to rescue England.
The Bayern Munich forward first headed the equaliser in the 75th minute, before drilling the ball into the top corner from inside the box 11 minutes later.

Speaking after the match, England manager Thomas Tuchel said it was a well-deserved win for his team despite the “worst possible start”.
The German tactician said: “We kept believing. We had the worst start possible.
“First shot, first goal. Then, it became even more difficult. After the first water break, we were on top of the game. I think we should have had a penalty. The substitutes came on and put the effort in, and we won it. Well deserved, but we had to work a lot.”
Following the victory, England will now play World Cup co-hosts Mexico at the Azteca Stadium on Monday, 6 July for a place in the quarter-finals.
