Naija Police & U (Naijapoliceu) has announced plans to host the Gallant Officers Recognition & Welfare Initiative 2026, a virtual programme designed to promote the welfare, financial security and post-service opportunities of serving and retired police officers.

The event, themed “Life After Police: Building Purpose, Welfare and Opportunities Beyond Service,” is scheduled to be held via Google Meet on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Organisers said the initiative aims to recognise police officers who have distinguished themselves in service while creating a platform to address retirement planning, career transition, financial independence and sustainable livelihoods for personnel after active service.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, is expected to attend the programme as the Special Guest of Honour.

Project Coordinator, Mrs Chioma Okezie, said the initiative was conceived to encourage conversations around life after policing and improve support systems for officers preparing for retirement.

According to her, many retired officers face significant challenges after leaving active service, making it imperative to equip personnel with the knowledge and opportunities needed to build meaningful lives beyond the force.

The programme will feature presentations by retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police, DIG Abiodun Alabi, who will speak on “Life After Police: Building Purpose, Welfare and Opportunities Beyond Service.”

Chairman of Transworld Security Systems Ltd., Dr Victoria Ekhomu, will deliver a presentation on “Transitioning from Active Service to Retirement.” At the same time, real estate and investment consultant, Dr Obinna Azonobi, will discuss “Beyond the Uniform: Leveraging Real Estate for Long-Term Financial Stability.”

The organisers said discussions would also focus on mentorship, financial planning, welfare support, and practical strategies to help officers build sustainable careers and businesses after retirement.

Naija Police & U noted that the initiative aligns with its mission of promoting positive policing, strengthening police-community relations and recognising officers who have demonstrated professionalism, courage and dedication in the service of the nation.

The organisation called on security stakeholders, corporate organisations, welfare advocates, retired officers and members of the public to support and participate in the virtual event.

The Gallant Officers Recognition & Welfare Initiative 2026 is expected to bring together serving and retired police officers, security experts and other stakeholders to explore practical solutions for improving the welfare and long-term well-being of officers beyond active service.
