A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party loyal to Tanimu Turaki has announced that former President Goodluck Jonathan will be ratified as its consensus presidential candidate on Saturday.
An invitation posted on the PDP’s official X handle shows the event will hold at ‘A’ Class Event Centre, Kassim Ibrahim Way, Wuse II, Abuja.
The invitation reads: “Special National Convention for the Ratification of the Nomination of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR, as the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) @OfficialPDPNig

Saturday’s event will end speculation around the return of President Jonathan to the political fray. It could also heighten tension within the PDP, as the faction loyal to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has already picked former National Assembly member Sandy Onor as its consensus presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
Recall that Chairman of the Primary Election Committee, Samuel Ortom, announced the outcome of the party’s primary at the PDP national secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday, 26 May.
Mr Ortom, a former governor of Benue State, said Mr Onor, the party’s sole aspirant, emerged through a consensus arrangement.
“We have worked day and night with the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory to ensure that we arrive at a consensus,” he said.
