Turaki, others reappointed as leaders of PDP’s caretaker committee

By Ishaya Ibrahim

The Peoples Democratic Party’s faction loyal to the governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, has reappointed the recently sacked factional national chairman of the party, Tanimu Turaki as head of the party’s caretaker committee.

Turaki’s National Working Committee of the PDP was last week dissolved following the Supreme Court ruling which delegitimised the November 2025 convention of the party held in Ibadan where Turaki and other officers of the PDP were elected.

The decision of the party to reappoint Turaki and other officers in the interim to spearhead the affairs of the PDP was taken at the 103rd National Executive Committee of the party. The meeting was convened by the party’s Board of Trustees headed by former Senate President Adolphus Wabara.

In a statement after the meeting, the PDP announced the key decisions reached.

The statement reads: “Following the Supreme Court judgment, and in a decisive move to strengthen party administration and ensure constitutional adherence, a two-thirds majority of the 103rd National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially appointed and inaugurated an Interim National Working Committee (INWC).

“This newly appointed leadership is tasked with managing the party’s executive operations effective immediately.
