The Ado Diaspora Union in the United States of America has commended the Executive Chairman of Ado Local Government Area of Benue State, Engr. Oche Sunday Oche, for his decisive efforts in tackling insecurity and fostering reconciliation among troubled communities.
In a press statement, the President-General of the Ado Diaspora Union in the United States, High Chief Michael Otokpa lauded Engineer Oche for taking the security of lives and properties of his subjects as a top priority of his administration.
The group described the chairman’s interventions in Eza, Apa and Agila as timely and impactful.
The communities had, in recent years, witnessed persistent communal clashes resulting in heavy loss of lives and destruction of property worth billions of naira.
However, the Diaspora body noted that the situation has significantly improved since Oche assumed office.
It also recalled that illegal arms proliferation, including the use of AK-47 rifles, had worsened the crisis in the past.
According to the group, such activities have now been curtailed under the current administration.
President-General of the union, High Chief Michael Otokpa, praised the chairman for prioritising security of lives and property.
He said incidents of killings, abductions and communal violence have reduced drastically and lauded the constitution of a peace and reconciliation committee to address lingering disputes.
It expressed optimism that the initiative would promote lasting peace across the affected communities.
The union urged other local government leaders to emulate Oche’s proactive approach.
It also acknowledged the support of Governor Hyacinth Alia in combating insecurity.
Meanwhile, nine out of ten suspects arrested over the abduction of worshippers at St. John Catholic Church in Ojeji, have been convicted.
The victims were kidnapped during a night vigil but later rescued through coordinated security operations.
Oche commended security agencies for their swift intervention and professionalism.
He added that the success of the operation has restored public confidence in the government’s commitment to safety.
