D’Tigress retain 8th position in latest FIBA Women’s World Rankings

D’Tigress recently recorded two wins and three defeats at the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament in France.

Nigeria’s women’s national basketball team, D’Tigress, have maintained their top-10 standing following the latest FIBA Women’s World Rankings.

According to FIBA, the team—coached by Rena Wakama—amassed 700.3 points to hold onto 8th position globally.

With this achievement, D’Tigress remain the highest-ranked team in Africa and the only side from the continent to feature in the world’s top 10.

The African champions originally broke into the top 10 in 2025, climbing three places to reach 8th.

That historic jump followed their dominant performance at the FIBA Women’s AfroBasket 2025, where they were crowned continental champions for the fifth consecutive time.

In the latest rankings, the United States maintained the top spot. France moved up to second place, overtaking Australia, who dropped to third. China and Belgium completed the top five.
